Nguyễn Tuấn Anh, Director of Sustainable Development Consulting at FPT Digital, delivered a presentation on “Digital & ESG – A Dual Growth Model of Digital & Green in Businesses” during the opening session of the Vietnam – Asia DX Summit 2024.
On May 28-29, 2024, the Vietnam – Asia DX Summit 2024 officially kicked off in Hanoi under the theme: “Digital Transformation, Green Transformation, Digital Economy Development.” This is an annual national and international event organized by VINASA under the patronage of the Ministry of Information and Communications. The event’s opening was attended and directed by Deputy Prime Minister Trần Lưu Quang. Representing FPT Digital, Nguyễn Tuấn Anh, Director of Sustainable Development Consulting, delivered a keynote presentation on “Digital & ESG – A Dual Growth Model of Digital & Green in Businesses” during the event’s opening session.
In his opening speech, Trương Gia Bình, Chairman of the Founding Council of VINASA, shared: “The world is moving into a phase of smart development with the dual trends of digital and green transformations. These are both opportunities and significant challenges. To harness the potential of digital and green transformations and achieve dual growth in the digital and green economies, Vietnam must pioneer in sectors such as Artificial Intelligence, semiconductor chips, and smart electric vehicles in digital transformation and green technology. We must focus human and financial resources on these key technological areas.”
In his presentation on the dual growth model of digital and green, Nguyễn Tuấn Anh emphasized that green and digital transformations form a synergistic force, working together to support businesses. Green transformation acts as a driving force, accelerating digital transformation more rapidly and effectively, while digital transformation serves as a tool to facilitate and advance businesses’ green transformation efforts.
Survey data indicates that although companies demonstrate a high level of commitment to ESG practices, proper and consistent implementation remains a significant challenge. Only 22% of businesses have developed comprehensive ESG programs that address all aspects of Environment, Social, and Governance (E, S, and G). Drawing from numerous case studies, FPT emphasizes that a key factor in a successful dual transformation is the need for a well-structured roadmap tailored to each company’s strengths. This roadmap should also focus on training and enhancing digital and green capabilities, with a shift in mindset from leadership to all levels of staff.
Concluding his presentation, Nguyễn Tuấn Anh recommended four essential steps for building a structured transformation roadmap that aligns with both the company’s current status and its business goals: Assessing the current state of ESG, Integrating ESG goals with business objectives, Developing an ESG roadmap, and Training the workforce to prepare for long-term transformation.
