Up to 90% of Vietnamese textile enterprises in the industry are left out of the digital transformation trend. FPT Digital’s Consulting Director Phuong Nguyen The shared about “Digital Transformation in Vietnam’s Garment Manufacturing Industry – Opportunities from the Data Ecosystem” at the 9th
Vietnam Textile Summit. The Vietnamese textile industry is facing numerous challenges related to greening the production chain and sustainable development, especially in response to strict environmental standards and regulations from major markets like Europe and the U.S. Within the framework of the 9th Vietnam Textile Summit organized by the Vietnam Cotton & Spinning Association (VCOSA), Mr. Phuong Nguyen gave a presentation on “Digital Transformation in Vietnam’s Garment Manufacturing Industry – Opportunities from the Data Ecosystem.”
Current research data shows that the readiness for digital transformation among Vietnamese textile enterprises is currently the lowest, despite their large participation in the global value chain and being a key industry with a high export rate. Mr. Phương stated that up to 90% of companies in the sector are not keeping up with the digital transformation trend.
The application of digital technology will play a key role in modernizing and increasing the proactive participation of Vietnam’s textile industry in the value chain. Building and participating in a shared data ecosystem platform is essential not only for individual companies to unlock new business potentials but also to connect and promote the growth of the entire textile industry. To help companies prepare for the journey of leveraging the data ecosystem, Mr. Phuong Nguyen recommended practical actions: Establishing a legal framework and common standards; Upgrading IT systems; Building an Information Technology team; and Promoting collaboration among data providers.
